About

My name is John Rodley and I’ve been doing startups for a long time now, the last couple of times as co-founder. Along the way I’ve seen and made every mistake in the book. I’ve laughed and cried*, worked too hard and drank too much. I’ve struck out, hit a couple of singles and, like every scratch-hitting 150 pound second baseman, I’m still stepping up to the plate and swinging for the fences.

Scott Adams made famous Dilbert’s erstwhile leader, the pointy haired boss, a guy who embodies every absurdity of corporate life. Startup life is full of absurdity too, much of it perpetrated by the heroes of these stories – founders, CEOs, CTOs, angels, VCs and me, Mister Pointy Haired Startup.

Fair warning #1: this blog used to have a lot more content.  When I left my last job, I made it entirely private because I was sick of the business.  I’ve recently made some of the content password-protected so as to let a select few bask in my wisdom.  If you want to see that stuff, contact me.

Fair warning #2: this blog was branded long before Scott Adams leapt out of the closet as an awful human being.  I’m too lazy to change it.

*not really, I only cry for sad animal stories
